Carving Time!

We designated Saturday afternoon as our family time to carve our pumpkin that we got at the pumpkin patch.  I wanted to see if C would touch the pumpkin guts since she won't touch finger paints or jello and so was determined we were going to carve the pumpkin as a family.  After Jason got the back porch set up and I changed C into some clothes that don't really fit anymore we were ready!
Checking out what Daddy's doing

Who knew it took so much concentration to draw on the dots that would become our pumpkin's face! :)

C had already lost interest and was just excited that she had gotten one of her pony tail holders onto her finger!

A little more interest when the big knife was brought out!

But quickly she went back to sorting her pony tail holders and barrettes

Then it was my turn to clean out the pumpkin and try to entice C! I think I thought that if she saw me doing it she would know that it was ok.  As you can see in the next picture, no dice.

She did bring the top to me and help me put it back on the pumpkin midway through the cleaning process.  She loved walking around with the pumpkin stem!

Other than to give me the stem she basically sat as far away from me and the pumpkin guts as she could.  At one point she stepped on some and got it on her sock and she stood there holding her foot up until we cleaned it off.  Silly girl!

Jason didn't take any pictures while I carved the face.  I'm pretty sure it was because he didn't want there to be proof that he let me take care of the pumpkin with a long knife.  In my defense I only have one really tiny cut on one of my fingers and I didn't even notice it until later that day!

C with our completed Jack-o-lantern!

And one more after she took the top off!
