Family Reunion

Jason's extended family on his Dad's side had a family reunion today at Lake Guntersville state park lodge.  I was so impressed at how nice the lodge was -- I had never been to a state park lodge but it was so nice! Alabama know's how to big beautiful buildings.  And the views overlooking the lake were breathtaking!

We enjoyed spending time with KayKay, GrandDavid, and Uncle Kevin along with some other relatives that we know like Grandmother and Granddaddy, Bill and Debbie, and Colleen and Beull.  It was also nice to get to see some family that we haven't seen since the wedding and meet some new family that I've never had the chance to meet.  Everyone was so nice and we were so glad that Charlotte handled it so well.  Once we got there we ate and she even ate some peas and carrots at lunch! Her favorite part though was, of course, the chocolate pie!

While everyone else was finishing lunch Charlotte got restless so we went out on the back porch to take some pictures.  C is such a ham!  She put on her sunglasses and then just sat taking everything in.  We tried to get her to walk out there but I think she realized that it was concrete and just looked at us like, "What? Do I look crazy to you?!?!"

"Daddy, there's a pool! Why aren't we going to swim!?!?!"
"Charlotte, we're going to swim tomorrow!"
"I want to swim NOW!!!"

"Are you crazy?!?! I'm not walking on this!"

We then went back to the meeting room to hang out with the family some more.  Charlotte then warmed up and showed off her new walking skills and kept everyone entertained.  What cracked me up the most was when Charlotte saw some of Jason's relatives kids (this couple has four boys under 11!) wrestling on the floor.  She just stood there watching them as if she was really worried about them!

Asking a new friend to come walk with her

The ride home didn't go to well -- a sleepy one year old who is used to only napping in her bed and wouldn't go to sleep led to a loooooooong car ride full of cries until we got home.  It then took her a little while to go to sleep but she finally did and is taking a short afternoon nap.  We're hoping to go see some of my family tonight as long as C is happy when she gets up.  We'll see!
