Honestly, I'm not even sure where I left off in the blog it's been so long since I wrote. I hate it when that happens because I really want to have these memories in 50 years but sometimes life just gets in the way with documenting what we're doing.
Things have been crazy around here and more than a little stressful. I mentioned a situation at Jason's work and, thank the Lord, that has been resolved now but for a few weeks we were on pins and needles. A lot of companies in our area are having to lay off an insane percentage of their work force immediately and we were afraid that Jason might be in the group to be laid off. He had been speaking with another company for about six months but they hadn't been at a point where they were ready to hire anyone until recently. We prayed and prayed for the timing to work out and God answered our prayers in a wonderful way! Jason received verbal confirmation that he was going to get this new job in time to take the voluntary leave program which provided him with a decent severance package. So he's getting to spend two and a half weeks at home with Charlotte and I before he starts his new job! The timing really could not have been more of an act of God and we are so thankful that he didn't answer our prayers for an immediate job offer so that Jason could take this buyout and have some time off. We are excited about him starting his new job in a few weeks and hopeful that he will enjoy this work more than what he was doing before also which is an even bigger plus!
So it was hard for me to concentrate on the blog with all of that uncertanty on my mind and also having to take care of Charlotte. I posted the video of her walking and I still can't get over it. It is just so weird to see her toddling around the house! She is getting better every day but is still not 100% comfortable with it. She'll walk if we set her down on her feet but other than that she still prefers to crawl. I'm sure it will be a gradual transition.
We are enjoying the pool and her splash pad this summer though. Charlotte has always loved her bath (seriously, from her very first one she has never cried in it or anything) and so we are so glad that she loves the water outside of the bath tub also. We're enjoying going to the pool on Friday afternoon's and during the weekends and we hope to get there during the week this week. She is also loving her splash pad to play with at home when we don't make it to the pool. Our back patio is perfect for it in the morning also because it's still shaded so we don't have to worry about her getting too much sun!
Tomorrow we are going to have a busy day and try and squeeze in two family gatherings -- one a huge family reunion and one a slightly smaller event that is basically a type of family reunion. We are hoping that Charlotte will be able to skip her afternoon nap and still be pleasant so that we can make both of them but we'll see how that turns out.
We wish you and your family a Happy 4th of July!
