Our flight left around noon on Monday so we left as soon as we got Charlotte up that morning (we moved her schedule back an hour to try and help with the time change). This meant that she got no naps in a bed on Monday which wasn't the best but that was how it had to happen. She refused to sleep until we got on the Skylink in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport. Here she is after she finally passed out!
Charlotte actually did really well on the flights. I'll post a list of things that I learned traveling with an infant later but she did great. It really helped to have my brother's portable dvd player to play Baby MacDonald on!
Since we didn't have the sound on she liked playing with the dvd player possibly more than watching the dvd but it was a distraction that worked.
If you know our child you know that she doesn't all out wail most of the time. When she cries/fusses she whimpers and moans a little and wiggles around. We think this is real crying but my parents and aunt make fun of us for thinking that this is any type of crying. Apparently Charlie and I cried like banshee's through most of our infanthood! :) Anyway, she started getting fussy on the flight from Dallas to Orange County but it was a long flight! I wanted to get fussy also! It didn't help that her bottom teeth are working on coming in also so her teeth were bothering her. But we made it! And all of our luggage made it so that was wonderful!
By the time we got to our hotel Charlotte was worn out and so were we. It was nice that we gained two hours and that she was so tired because we were able to put her to bed almost as soon as we got there and she went straight to sleep. We did let her roll around on the bed a little first to help her get her wiggles out. She enjoyed that part of the day!
Overall, it was a great travel day for having such a little girl with us. We made it safe and sound and all crashed early to try and catch up on our sleep!
