We Are the Champions!

Thursday morning dawned bright and clear.  It was a beautiful day, especially since we've been dealing with abnormally low temperatures in Alabama.  However, the day was kind of forboding.  I told Jason that morning that it was almost like our wedding day, it seemed that important.  We settled on that it felt like the wedding day of someone close to us.

We weren't leaving the hotel until 12:15 so Charlotte got to take her two hour morning nap which was, probably, one of the things that made our day go relatively smoothly.  She woke up and ate and then we went to get on the bus.  I wish I had taken pictures of the California Highway Patrolmen that escorted us to Pasadena.  They were on motorcycle's and were weaving in and out of traffic getting people out of the way (and I'm sure scaring them to death!) the whole way.  Charlotte dozed off on the ride to Pasadena also so we were thinking that we were currently ahead on the sleep situation which was wonderful.

When we got to the Rose Bowl we got to go to the corporate area to enjoy some food and drinks before the game.  It was super hot in the tent but it was nice to be able to relax a little -- or try to at least!

Charlotte kept herself occupied by playing with my sunglasses and her own!

Notice her "National Championship" dress that Mom gave her specifically for this game before she was even born!

The Rose Bowl is such a classic stadium.  We even sing about it in our fight song... "Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then!"

It is beautiful inside also with the views of the mountains!  It is a little weird though seeing the treetops over the stands though.  Since it's a sunken bowl it makes sense but if you forget that it's sunken you kind of feel like you are really high up!

The Baby Bjorn pretty much saved the game for us.  Charlotte was really good in it and even though my back and shoulders hurt the next day it was much easier than trying to hold her in our arms.

I heard that pre-game was really good but I was taking care of Charlotte outside then.  But this is at the end of Josh Groban's National Anthem.  We were back inside for it and it was really good.

Charlotte did really good during the game.  She napped at the hotel that morning and then napped on the bus on the way to the game.  She had a mini-meltdown during pre-game when I was gone to the restroom but once I came back and went and fed her and changed her diaper she was a happy camper.  She slept like this throughout the first quarter and then was pretty happy for the rest of the game.  She didn't go back to sleep until the bus left the stadium about an hour after the game ended!  She was such a trooper and we were so thankful for how well she handled the day!

Despite being a close game we were able to pull out the victory! We had so much fun celebrating after the game!

We even saw Miss Lindsey after the game!

It was a WONDERFUL day that was capped off by a wonderful win.  Thirteen has always been my lucky number and now it's The University's as well! We are so glad that we got to share the day with my family and with Charlotte.  We keep saying that she'll be one of the only freshmen in her class at Alabama to have been at the game!  Roll Tide!

  1. Great pictures. I know Charlotte is a schedule baby, but she sure does well when she has to get off of it! Will you email me the picture of all of us...I'm going to need it for my scrapbook.

    ROLL TIDE!!!

I've loved your recap of your vacation, Jenn. What a treasure!
