When we got down to Tuscaloosa Carrie and I almost immediately had to change and head to the house. Abby was a big help on Saturday because she helped entertain Charlotte and keep her happy! Abby's going to be a great babysitter pretty soon! Abby also brought Charlotte some of her old toys (and a pretty hat!) so C loved playing with the new toys all weekend!
I really enjoyed working the house this year. It was extra special since I now have a little legacy running around. Preference Night is always the most special and this year was no different. I'm glad that the ceremony is essentially the same still as when I was in school. Those songs (I Will Be Here and Faithful Friend) get me every time! It was especially fun when one of the older alums asked me if I had a girl that party because she thought I was an active! I thanked her profusely for that mistake!
After leaving the house my aunts Cathy and Candy had arrived and so we headed to Newk's for dinner. While we were eating a huge thunderstorm rolled in and by the time we all got back to the car we looked like we had been swimming in our clothes. We really felt for the freshmen women who were in their pretty cocktail dresses and were getting drenched. We then enjoyed a nice evening of catching up and watched the Say Yes to the Dress with Jarrod Powers' fiance in it.
Sunday morning was Bid Day and, as usual, it was as hot and humid as it could get. Charlotte was such a trooper during the whole thing. She skipped her morning nap and played around in the heat with all the people all morning and it didn't phase her. Her behavior gives me hope that football season won't be as painful as I was anticipating! Carrie and I went inside to hear them read the list and we were excited to see our friend Meg reading the list since she's the new pledge trainer. I'm sure it was special to her to read the list with her little sister Sally's name on it! We enjoyed seeing lots of people at the house and enjoyed a great lunch before heading back to put C down for her nap.
Don't you love Charlotte's outfit with her strawberries! Our chapter's local mascot is the strawberry which explains why C has so many clothes with strawberries on them. I couldn't let Bid Day pass by without another strawberry outfit!
In 17 years you better believe I'll be pulling this picture out! :)
Our family Alpha Chi's! So glad to add another member!
Overall it was a wonderful weekend. Mom, Charlotte, and I stayed in town and Miss Stephanie came down so that we could go shopping on Monday. We enjoyed our time away from reality for a little bit. And I think it was really good for C to get reacclimated to the condo so that in a few weeks she'll be more ready to spend almost every weekend down there.
Nothing like Bid Day at UA! C looks so cute in her strawberry bubble. Congratulations on another cousin in AXO!
