Charlotte,
It seems to me that there have been more changes with you this month than any other so far. You are such a big girl! You are growing and growing and I can't get over how big you are. Your Daddy and I are loving this stage in your life. The way you interact with us and do such sweet and funny things makes each day a new adventure. I am so glad that I get to stay home with you every day baby girl so that I can how much you grow. Sometimes Daddy will notice you doing something new and I'll realize that you started doing it a few days ago but I forgot to mention it. I am so thankful that I get to see you discover yourself and your environment every day. We love you very very much baby girl and we can't wait to see what exciting things you learn to do next month!
But for now, here are the fun things that you are doing this month!
You have become a tummy sleeper. We always put you to bed on your back and almost as soon as we put you down you flip yourself over. You also "creep" all over the bed! Your favorite place to sleep is in the top left hand corner of the crib with your head right up against the side. You can get from the bottom part of the crib on your back to that top corner on your tummy in the time it takes me to get downstairs to the monitor!
One other fun bed time activity of yours is that you love pulling your little legs up and out of the legs of your footed pj's. Often times when I wake you up in the morning your legs are all curled up in the body of your pj's instead of in their feet! We mostly put you in footed pj's now since the last time we put you in a nightgown you wiggled in it until the neck was around your tummy and you got mad because you could no longer move your arms!
You are so happy! I feel kind of bad when people ask me if you're always so good. The truth is you are! You really only fuss when you don't feel good which is understandable. I do that too! :)
You are a happy camper and good to go with a flexible afternoon schedule as long as you get your 2 hour nap in the morning. Speaking of a schedule you are definitely a scheduled baby. When we took you to the nursery at church and tried to go to big church you were not a happy girl because you couldn't go to sleep in the nursery since it wasn't your bed with your sound machine, etc. I'm not sure what we're going to do about that since we want to get back to going to big church and Sunday School. We'll see how that goes in the next few weeks when we're not always in Tuscaloosa.
You are great at pushing up when you're on your tummy and don't fall straight to the floor when I sit you up. You still love standing though -- it's your most favorite position.
This month you started rice cereal and today you tried oatmeal for the first time. You have become a fairly good eater (again, when you feel good). You are nursing five times a day and eating cereal once. We're about to start feeding you cereal two times a day and then work up to three but for right now just feeding you cereal once a day is easiest.
You have become a reacher! You have such control of your little fingers and can pick up rattles and toys and burp cloths and hair and hold on with a super tight grasp! It also melted my heart last week when you started reaching to me when other people were holding you. It's the sweetest thing!
This month had a lot of firsts. Our first trip with the Dixon's. Your first football game sitting outside. Your first ride in your big girl umbrella stroller. Your first experience with cold weather. Your first cold and fever. That one was no fun for us or for you but at least its over and now maybe we won't flip out as much the next time.
You are a little flirt! You love to smile and talk to us! We're getting really long extended vowels now (lot's of aaaaaaah's, etc) and keep listening hoping that you'll put a "m" or "d" in front of that! I actually think that you said "ma ma" tonight while you were crying. You at least started making an m sound. We'll see if that continues and you keep saying it. :)
Your hair is getting curly! You are still loosing a lot of hair but you can only really tell on your sheets. But now that your hair is getting longer it's getting a little bit of curl in it which is making me happy. Since my hair is so straight I've always wanted curly hair and maybe I'll get to live vicariously through yours! :) Although, if your hair does end up curly I'm sure that you'll want it straight. That's just the way girls are.
You also learned some fun tricks this month! Papa G taught you to stick your tongue out when he sticks his out at you. You only do it for Papa G, you don't care if Daddy or I are sticking our tongue's out at you. You also now love for us to blow on your belly. You giggle and laugh and get a huge grin.
You have gotten bigger this month. You are wearing 6 months clothes except for pants where you're still in 3 months or 3-6 months pants. You are in size 2 diapers but we still use size 1's sometimes when we're traveling or need to use what we had already bought. Last night we weighed you and when I was holding you it appeared that you weigh 14 pounds; when Daddy held you it appeared that you weigh 15 pounds. So we'll take an average of 14 1/2 pounds! We also measured you and we measured you at 24 inches long. You are definitely a growing girl!
We are having so much fun with you right now little bit! I can't believe that your next birthday will be six months old! I told your Daddy last night that I better start planning your birthday party! :) We love you Charlotte. You are a dream come true.
love Mommy
