Curtains

I'm having a baby shower at my house in a few weeks and this prompted me to get into a sewing frenzy to try and finally make the curtains for my den that I've been wanting to make since March. Jason and I picked out some fabric that we loved that will tie the red in the dining room into the den. I really wanted to do pinch pleat drapes and I think they've turned out really good.

So now my big question is should I add two more panels. I had originally planned on making four panels so that they would completely close the window. We would then remove the blinds that are there so that when we do have kids they won't get their heads stuck in them or anything. BUT, I can't use my machine to sew the pleats at the top together and I've broken four needles trying to sew the pleats in place on these two panels. For those of you who do read this blog :) do you think I should leave them at one panel a piece and keep the blinds or add the other panels that I'd originally planned and loose the blinds? I'm just not sure I can be un-biased in this decision due to the pain my fingers and hands have endured sewing the existing panels pleats so I need some help! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think I should do!

  1. The curtains look great, and I am so impressed with your sewing ability! But I think that you should go for the 4 panels if your fingers hold up! I like the idea of taking down the blinds. But if you never mentioned the idea of 4 panels, I would have loved the windows just like they are now! Sorry, I went with the painful choice of making 2 more panels. I will be glad to help if you want to teach me how to sew!

  2. I totally think you can use the curtains like they are. I think it opens up the room and makes it look bigger. Plus, I'll be needing curtains for baby Kate's room soon...so we can't have tied up making your own (ha, ha).
